A multi-player romp, not the best way to introduce a game, so in 2010 after having played the demo i decided not to bother with this game, unimpressed with this game i was yes much. But since the long wait for colonial marines just keeps getting longer and longer i had to satisfy my needs like some gutter junkie so i bought aliens vs predator hoping that it wasn't going to suck too much balls. (oh if you're thinking heeey thats not a pic from the game, no, no it's not. end)
I was blown away by how good this game was! Straight off the bat it delivers some super awesome atmosphere! Blam! sound effects from the movies! Spooky lighting, bleeps on my motion tracker! Looks like someone bagged one of Ripley's bad guys (^_^!)
I must say that the aliens are, by far, the best AI enemies i've ever battled in a game, they are super smart and very elusive! They're fast man, and they climb up walls and across the roof to try and flank you, it's like fighting REAL aliens! very cool, and they look just fano-tastic-o.
The Predator missions are fun too. You'll notice quite early that predator's are tough, and fast, and using the finishing moves on both humans and aliens is very satisfying! Locking in on a target with your shoulder mounted plasma cannon is wicked, but it quickly drains the power bar which prevents you from using it alot, (which is a shame) my favourite was the combi stick, a sweet one hit kill weapon! Very handy when you're surrounded by xeno's!
When playing as the alien you need to use alot of stealth, switching the controls to auto-transition will make wall climbs so much easier. Climbing across the roof and dropping down behind marines for that grab kill is nice, niiice. And harvesting unarmed humans is cool too. All in all it's really not a long game, it only took me two days to finish all three campaigns, but it was super enjoyable and i've replayed the marine missions. I was very impressed, and if colonial marines is anything like this, it's going to kick total arse!
